Showjumper Vicky Tulloch has announced that she is selling her string of three competition horses, including her top ride Soliegette, and two broodmares and a filly.
The 28-year-old, who rode for Britain on a Nations Cup team in 2010, says that the decision was “the hardest I’ve ever had to make”, but that a lack of finances left her with no option.
“I can’t afford to keep Soliegette and once she’s gone I can’t see myself wanting to carry on in the sport,” she told H&H.
“I will also be selling my Concorde broodmare who is currently in foal to Argento, another dressage broodmare who is in foal to Demonstrator and a two-year-old homebred filly by Mr Visto out of my Concorde mare.
“It will break my heart to sell Solie, having had her for nine amazing years now. I remember everything about the first day I met her. It will be like losing a child.”
Vicky’s only hope is that she can find a patron to buy “Solie” from her and allow her to keep the ride.
“That of course would be amazing,” she said, “but finding an owner to do that will be like finding a needle in a haystack and I can’t imagine I am going to be lucky enough to find one.
“I can only hope that she is sold to someone who loves and appreciates her even half as much as I do.”
