Juniors jump for College Premier glory


  • The College Junior Premier

    Danielle Willett was the one to beat on the opening day of the pony Premier Show at The College EC, reports Kerry Bowness. Danielle took the Blue Chip Sparkle with New York Skyline and the John Whitaker International Winter JA Classic with Gold Harvest. She was also second on Catmando in the Pony of the year Show restricted class.

    The second day’s winter JA went to Carian Scudamore and Cappagh Supreme, ahead of Trilbie Cook (Clogherboy Mirah) and Zoe Adams (VIP Tixylix). In the winter JC Amanda Plowman and Delfino finished ahead of Megan James (Sprite II) and Angela Tate (Honisa Brenin Copr). Stephanie Gunn and Blakt’s Jordi won the second winter JC from Rosie Offord (Baltic Prince) while Carla Chamberlain and Billy Bigtime claimed the Kitt-Kraiburg Coral.

    Solihull Riding Club

    Peter White qualified Santa Fee for the Osborne Refrigerators B and C final at the RIHS alongside Billy Twomey on Fantasia at Solihull Riding Club’s show, reports Suzanne Jones.Billy also took the top two places in the Blue Chip Dynamic B and C, with Allegro and Fantasia.

    Emily Davies captured the Blue Chip Performance on Granita II. Mark Bunting scored a 1.40m double with John Boy III, taking Saturday’s two-phase and the £350-to-the-winner class on the final day. There was a dead-heat for second place between Helen Tredwell on Opportunity B and Carl Curtis with Panacee in the final 1.40m open.

    Guy Williams left the show with four wins, three coming from Michael Drea’s Mysteron. Steve Wanstall’s Quidam notched up the fourth victory in the opening 1.40m, ahead of Guy’s new ride, Quito De Lui Z.

    Norton Heath

    Zoe Adams and VIP Tixylix heading a hotly contested £200-to-the-winner JA grand prix at Norton Heath, reports Margaret Shaw. The pair also won the 1.20m class on the opening day. Heledd Thomas had to settle for second place on Short Step in the grand prix.

    Amy Inglis captured her first ever grand prix win with J’s Junior. She was also in the money with Nantcol Premier and Hollyoaks in the 11 and under classes, as well as being the only 128cm pony placed in the 128/138cm handicap. Pippa Goddard and Mr Blue took the 138cm grand prix jump-off ahead of Jordan Nason on Sandilands Milton Merlin.

    Luke Ratcliffe won the small grand prix with Mark Samuels’s Bobby Bracken, ahead of Megan James on Sprite II. Ashley Burley clinched victory in the novice grand prix on Baltic Prince in his last ride as a junior.
