Geoff Luckett (pictured) and Robert Maguire have scored wild card tickets to the Horse of the Year Show (4 – 8 October), at the Birmingham NEC. Britain’s top 10 show jumpers automatically received invitations but the organisers issued four wild cards, to be won at two special qualifiers in Scotland and Essex.
Foot-perfect performances from Luckett and Maguire last weekend at the Rowallan Equestrian Centre in Scotland (15 to 17 September) secured each of them one of the sought-after invitations.
The pair will join Britain’s top 10 show jumpers contesting the Show Jumper of the Year title but they are more than capable of the job. Last year Geoff Luckett won the Xerox Special Event Services Cup at the Horse of the Year Show and Robert Maguire, 26, was crowned tack365.com Leading Show Jumper of the Year.
Next weekend two more wild cards will be won at second qualifier held at The Unex Towerlands Centre (21st to 24th September).
