Gold and bronze for British jumping ponies


  • Britain’s Zoe Adams (pictured right), 16, has been crowned the new European pony individual champion, taking the gold medal on V.I.P. Tixylix in Freudenberg, Germany.

    Britain’s James Smith, 15, riding Mr Nice Guy had to jump off against Germany’s Carolin Zell to decide the silver and bronze medal positions after they both finished on eight penalties.

    Carolin beat James the silver medal by just two tenths of a second after both riders jumped clear in the head-to-head. Pippa Allen, 13, riding Spot the Lady finished in equal fourth place.

    A jubilant chef d’equipe, Katrina Moore said: “To add individual gold and bronze medals to the team gold we won on Friday is a fantastic achievement. Zoe and James have done us proud. Their performances throughout the four days have been outstanding. We have had a terrific championships!”
