British riders announced for La Baule Nations Cup


  • The British showjumping squad travelling to La Baule, France, for the 2nd leg of the CSIO 5* Furisiyya Nations Cup competition on Friday 16 May has been announced.

    Team manager Rob Hoekstra is taking Joe Clee, Tim Gredley, Ben Maher, Michael Whitaker and Guy Williams.

    Joe, who is based in Belgium, is taking the 10-year-old bay stallion Utamaro d’Ecaussines owned by Ludwig Criel. The pair had a grand prix win at the CSI3* in Lummen.

    Tim will be riding his own 13-year-old grey gelding Unex Chamberlain Z. They jumped double clear for Great Britain in the FEI Nations Cup team in Wellington, Florida earlier this year.

    World No 2 rider Ben Maher is on Urico a 13-year-old bay gelding owned by Jane Clark. The pair won the $150,000 Grand Prix at the Winter Equestrian Festival in Florida.

    Michael Whitaker will make his team debut with the exciting 10-year-old grey mare Elie van de Kolmen.

    Guy Williams’s ride Zaire, owned by Caroline Philips made an impressive debut at Nations Cup level with the only clear in the team at the opening leg of the series in Lummen last week.
