Brightwells auctioneers adds a show jumping section to its sale, plus challenge foryoung horses
Building on the success of the Equilibra dressage horse sale and challenge, auctioneer Brightwells has instigated a similar sale and competition for young show jumping horses.
Twenty-five selected three- and four-year-old potential show jumpers will be offered under saddle, alongside the dressage horses at Towerlands Equestrian Centre on Sunday,24 November, with all purchases eligible to compete in the following year’s Genus Equine Challenge, which offers total prize-money of £10,000.
The sale horses, which will come from Britain and Europe, will be selected by September and all must pass assessment, X-rays and vetting before being accepted for the sale.
They will be stabled at Towerlands for a week before the auction, during which they will undergo full five-stage vettings and two days of viewing and trial rides.
All horses sold at the auction will be invited to return the following year on Saturday, 22 November, where three judges will assess them for style and ability over fences and the manner of going on the flat.
The four-year-olds – which are also eligible to compete again the following year – will jump a course with a maximum height of 1m, followed by a 1.15m course, while the heights for the five-year-olds will be 1.20m and 1.25m.
The overall champion will take home £3,330, with £2,000 going to the reserve, and prizes of £1,500, £1,000, £800, £600, £400, £200, £100 and £70 going down the line.”This will be one of the most exciting auctions in Europe,” said Brightwells Richard Botterill.
