Top showman and MFH Robert Oliver has been injured while out hunting
Ledbury joint-master Robert Oliver will be out of action for the rest of the hunting season after being thrown from his horse following the opening meet at Corse Lawn, Glos.
“The horse put his foot in a ditch or something,” Robert told Horse & Hound. “I’ve smashed my face up and damaged several vertebrae in my neck – the doctor said I was lucky not to have severed the cord.”
Robert is a stout hunting supporter with many of his top show horses enjoying action in the field.
A leading producer of cobs and hunters at top level, Robert’s most successful horses include the heavyweight cob Super Ted, who won Cob of the Year at HOYS an amazing six times between 1987 and 1994.
He has also played a huge role in the amateur showing series Search for a Star, since its inception in 1995.
Robert is now recovering at home and would like to thank his well-wishers.
