If your dreams of riding at Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) have been thwarted by cancelled qualifiers, take heart. Many have been rescheduled.
The HOYS ridden cob qualifiers, from Cheshire’s cancelled Nantwich Show (25 July), took place at the Aintree National Showing Show last weekend (28-29 July, report 10 August issue).
The light, middle and heavyweight hunter classes will be held at the Cotswold Hunt Show (19 August), while the small hunter qualifier will be held at the BSPS Summer Championships at Arena UK (22-25 August).
And a wide range of ridden qualifiers, for both horses and ponies, from the abandoned Derbyshire Festival (9-10 June) will be held on 2 September at Somerford Park, Cheshire.
The harness champion of the year qualifier from Great Yorkshire will not be reallocated. Instead, two horses will go forward from the qualifier at Chatsworth Country Fair on 2 September.
Helena Pettit of HOYS said her team, plus shows and societies, had “worked very hard” to run the entire complement of qualifiers.
