One of the leading two-year-old racehorses Firebreak is to be sold at Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale this month
Firebreak, recent winner of the Group 2 Dubai DutyFree Mill Reef Stakes, is to be sold at Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale (29 October – 1 November) in Newmarket.
Trained by Ian Balding and owned by Kennet Valley Thoroughbreds, Firebreak is the winner of four of his six starts to date and is officially the equal third highest rated two-year-old colt in Britain.
As well as his Group 2 win, Firebreak is the winner of the Group 3 Prix de Cabourg at Deauville, finished fourth in the Group 1 Prix Morny behind unbeaten triple Group 1 winner Johannesburg, and was second in the Group 3 Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot, beating three subsequent Group winners, including recent Group 1 Grand Criterium winner Rock Of Gibraltar.
Kennet Valley Thoroughbreds chairman Nick Robinson said: “Firebreak has been a little bit special from the word go. Never out of the first four, he is undoubtedly the best horse that Kennet Valley has ever owned, and obviously it is with some regret that we are offering him for sale, but those are the terms ofthe partnership agreement.”
By top rated miler Charnwood Forest, Firebreak is the half-brother to five other winners out of the Stakes placed mare Breakaway.
Sold at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale by Scorrier House Stud, he was purchased for Kennet Valley Thoroughbreds by bloodstock agent Charlie Gordon-Watson for 27,000 guineas.
Potential purchasers should contact Nick Robinson of Kennet Valley Thoroughbreds (tel: 01256 381881, fax: 01256 381882).
