Richard Dunwoody reaches 250 miles on his 1,000 Mile Challenge


  • Today (Tuesday 9 June) at 8.55am former champion jockey Richard Dunwoody reached the 250-mile mark on his 1,000 Mile Challenge.

    He was joined for the landmark by 14-times champion National Hunt jockey AP McCoy, champion Flat jockey in 2007 Jamie Spencer as well as Oaks winning jockey Ted Durcan and Queen Mother Champion Chase winner Declan Murphy.

    Richard started the challenge at 11pm on 29 May and will be walking until 10 July

    His fastest mile so far as been 14minutes 7 seconds. He was walking with top female jockey Hayley Turner at the time.

    Richard is walking in aid of Alzheimer’s Society, Racing Welfare, SPARKS and Spinal Research.
