Memorial service for Ginger McCain at Liverpool Cathedral

  • Ginger McCain is to be remembered at a service in Liverpool Cathedral next month.

The colourful National Hunt trainer, who won the Grand National four times – three times with Red Rum in the 1970s – was synonymous with the race and Aintree racecourse.

He died last month at the age of 80 after a period of illness (news, 22 September).

In a statement the McCain family said they would like to thank “everyone for their wonderful tributes and messages, which have made a very tough time much easier”.

The memorial service will be held on 15 November at 2.30pm.
