Yorkshire farrier Steven Beane wins third consecutive title


  • Yorkshire farrier Steven Beane has won the World Championship Blacksmith competition at the Calgary Stampede, Canada (7-11 July) for the third year in a row.

    Steven, from North Allerton, Yorkshire, first won the title in 2009.

    He won $10,000 and is the first blacksmith to win back-to-back-to-back titles at Calgary since Welshman Grant Moon secured his fifth championship back in 1992.

    Steven was up against six-time winner Grant Moon, five-time winner Billy Crothers, also from Wales, and Paul Robinson of Northern Ireland, who won in 2008.

    It was a UK top five with 2008 winner Paul Robinson from Northern Ireland in second, Derek Gardner of Scotland placed third, five-time winner Welshman Billy Crothers fourth and six-time winner Grant Moon, also from Wales fifth.
