Male vets at a Buckinghamshire clinic have shed their scrubs to produce a “cheeky” calendar in aid of charity this Christmas.
Vets from the Chiltern Equine Clinic in Chalfont St Giles, as well as show jumpers John and Simon Crippen, eventer Sam Sheppard, dressage rider/eventer Jonathan Chapman and members of the West Hampstead branch of the mounted police, stripped off to pose with horses and donkeys to raise funds for The Brooke.
“Mr February”, vet Robert Oulton, told H&H: “It did take some persuasion, but it was for such a good cause and it turned out to be a fun day. I’m pleased with the result and we’ve had a great reaction from clients, who are enjoying picking their favourite month!”
Receptionist Danielle O’Connor said: “It was a fun way of making money for a good cause — if they all sell, we’ll make nearly £11,000 for The Brooke.
“There wasn’t too much embarrassment — everyone enjoyed it.”
Practice manager Linda Dear added: “It’s a fantastic charity and the calendar will make a great stocking filler. It costs just £5 and every penny goes to The Brooke, which is the UK’s leading overseas equine welfare charity.”
The clinic also holds regular fund-raising lectures and raised more than £4,000 for The Brooke during 2008.
