Two youths charged in connection with stable arson attack


  • Two youths have been charged in connection with an arson attack in Lancashire that left a stable block destroyed and four horses dead.

    Matthew Roberts, 18, from Darwen, has been charged with arson and a 17-year-old boy has been charged with arson and burglary.

    A third male, also 18, has been released on bail.

    The attack happened around 11.30pm on Monday, 14 July.

    Detective Inspector Andy Hulme, from Blackburn CID, said: “Despite the charges, we are still appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

    “We fully appreciate the sensitivity of this case and would like to reassure the public that events of this nature are extremely rare. Our condolences go out to the owners of the horses and the stables.”
