The breeder of the only herd of rare Greek Skyros ponies outside their homeland is looking for someone to take on two breeding pairs.
In 2005, two colts and three fillies were imported from Corfu to begin a herd in the Scottish Borders. There are now 22.
“They are an unique breed, with a mealy muzzle, but fine flat limbs,” said Sheilagh Brown, who breeds the ponies. “They are 10 or 11 hands and are known as reliable children’s mounts in Greece.”
