Top showjumper Ellen Whitaker is celebrating after getting engaged to her actor boyfriend Henry Cavill last night.
Henry, who has been cast as the new Superman in next year’s Superman: Man of Steel, popped the question in a Hollywood hotel after seeking the permission of Ellen’s dad, Stephen.
A delighted — and shocked — Ellen said: “I couldn’t believe it when he asked me to marry him. I thought we were there to celebrate his birthday. It was such a surprise and I am so happy.”
The couple first met at Olympia in 2009. A date for the wedding is yet to be set.
