Text and internet warns of suspicious vehicles near horses

  • A surge of text messages and posts on internet forums including Horse and Hound Online are warning horse owners of suspicious sightings at shows and on private property.

The warnings draw owners’ attention to two men who have been seen taking photographs of horses in different parts of the country, from Derbyshire to Essex and Hampshire.

Details of two vehicles seen with the men have also been circulated.

Despite the diverse locations, the warnings appear to be genuine, and Derbyshire police confirms that it is investigating a number of sightings.

Inspector Erika Green advises: “Any suspicious vehicles seen near rural properties should be reported to the local police immediately.”

“That way we can respond and investigate in time to take action if required.”
