Swansea man, who allowed nine horses to starve, banned from keeping animals

  • A Swansea man has been banned from keeping animals for 10 years after allowing two horses to starve to death and another seven to become dangerously malnourished.

Paul Davies, aged 50, of Lower Cwmtwrch, Swansea, admitted seven charges of starvation under section four of the Animal Welfare Act 2006 and two charges of starvation resulting in death at Neath Magistrates Court on Tuesday 13 May.

The court heard that an RSPCA inspector found the seven ponies and the two dead ponies in a field in Neath in August 2006.

Davies was also sentenced to a 12 week suspended custodial term, ordered to pay £1,000 court costs and to do 200 hours community service.
