A leading British arena surface supplier has come to the rescue of a second FEI show within the space of a month.
Following emergency remedial work at the FEI Pony European Championships at the Centrum Hipiki in Poland (26-31 July), Martin Collins International was also key in helping an FEI World Cup Showjumping qualifier run in Pretoria, South Africa (26-28 August).
After the riders voted against jumping on the turf arena in Pretoria, the qualifier was relocated to a Martin Collins CLOPF arena, 30km away at Kyalami Equestrian Park.
Although work was carried out on the turf arena, 24 out of the 25 riders voted to hold the competition on the Martin Collins surface.
The surface specialists has also won further praise following their work in Poland at the FEI Pony European Championships when they saved the championships from a delay.
The company was exhibiting at the show as a sponsor, but when issues arose over the condition of the surface, which had not yet been mixed, it stepped in to help the situation.
FEI president of the ground jury Otto Kn ¼sel said: “I have seen surfaces at five-star events which were not as good.”
