Support for struck-off vet Alan Walker

  • Organisers of the appeal set up to support a vet struck off for backdating vaccination entries on racehorse passports have been stunned by the positive reaction to their cause.

Dr Alan Walker was struck off by the disciplinary panel of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (news, 8 February) and afterwards told H&H that he intended to appeal to the government’s Privy Council.

In response, his supporters established the Alan Walker Appeal Fund (AWAF) to assist with the costs of appearing before the Privy Council.

In less than a month, more than £17,000 has been donated to the AWAF from nboth vets and the public.

AWAF chairman Richard Jones said: “It’s not just the money that counts. As an expression of support it is every bit as welcome.”

Dr Walker remains in practice until the appeal — for which a date is yet to be set — is heard.
