Motorway passenger dies after car hits loose horse on the A1 in Yorkshire
A woman died on New Year’s Day when the car she was travelling in collided with a loose horse on a motorway section of the A1.
The accident happened around 7am at Bramham, near Wetherby, West Yorkshire. The horse, which is believed to have strayed from its field, was also killed in the crash and police were trying to trace its owner.
The26-year-old woman from Selby, North Yorkshire, who has not been named, was a passenger in the car which was being driven by her husband. He was seriously injured and was taken to Leeds General Infirmary.
