A 12-year-old girl from Eltham, south London, has had her horsey wish granted by the Starlight Children’s Foundation.
Catriona Melly was diagnosed with immunodeficiency when she was one year old and underwent a bone marrow transplant in 2006. She now requires daily intravenous medicine and uses a wheelchair.
Catriona, who is treated at Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital, was referred to Starlight for a wish. She chose for her family to spend a day with Shetland ponies.
She was taken to Andover, Hants, in a limo on 11 February to meet Shetlands “Tripe” and “Onions” and their owner Anne Radcliffe.
Catriona’s mother Carole said: “Catriona had a brilliant day. Tripe and Onions were the most beautiful placid, sweet little ponies and she just loved them.”
