Scott Brash triumphant in Global Champions Tour of Cannes

  • British showjumper Scott Brash took home €99,000 (around £79,000) after winning the grand prix at the Global Champions Tour of Cannes yesterday (Saturday 14 June).

In a dramatic competition punctuated by thunderstorms and heavy rain that caused problems for many riders, the Scottish world number one jumped a fabulous winning round on top ride Hello Sanctos that forced mistakes from his rivals.

Scott, who took the 2013 overall Global Champions Tour title and with it a huge €450,000 payday, has moved into 9th place on the league, which is currently led by Australian double champion Edwina Tops-Alexander.

Living in Scotland, I’m used to weather like that, so it was probably an advantage for me,” joked Scott afterwards. “My horse was fantastic and I’m pleased for the crowd that it was such an exciting class.”
