Racehorse dies after road rage incident

  • Toblersong, a promising five-year-old racehorse trained by Surrey-based Brett Johnson had to be destroyed by a vet after a motorist struck the bay gelding, severing his hind leg.

The incident, which occurred as the trainer returned with his horses to his yard near the Epsom gallops, ended in tragedy following a row over speeding after which it is alleged that the motorist reversed into the horse.

Surrey police have confirmed that a 54-year-old man has been arrested and released on police bail pending further enquiries.
