Prime Minister confirms free vote on Hunting Act repeal

  • David Cameron has reaffirmed his commitment to holding a free vote on whether to repeal the Hunting Act.

He added: “I think there should be a free vote in the House of Commons.

“My problem has always been that it was just taking the criminal law into an area of activity where it didn’t really belong.”

It’s not clear when the vote would be held. The minister with responsibility for hunting, Jim Paice, has said it will happen “when there is time in the Parliamentary calendar”.
