Pony judge in court to face welfare charges


  • Welsh Pony and Cob Society judge Monica Hope Hewitt and her daughter, Monica May Hewitt, face animal welfare charges at Derby Magistrates Court on 13 November.

    Mrs Hewitt, 84, of Squashly Bank, Roston, Derbyshire, is accused of failing to meet the needs of 31 horses and four dogs.

    Her daughter, 56, of Hollington Road, Rocester, Staffordshire, is accused of the same charge relating to 15 of the horses.

    A court appearance scheduled for 16 October (news, 16 October) was adjourned.
