Ouija Board crowned Horse of the Year again

  • Ouija Board claimed her place in the record books last night when she became the first horse to win the prestigious Cartier Horse of the Year title for a second time.

The five-year-old mare reclaimed the title that she won in 2004 following a hat trick of Group 1 wins this season. Ed Dunlop successfully produced Ouija Board to win the Prince of Wales’s Stakes, the Vodaphone Nassau Stakes and most recently the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf.

Ouija Board won the Cartier Older Horse award on her way to the overall title and fought off competition from other award-winning horses including George Washington, winner of the three-year-old colt title.

Extremely popular with the public during her career, Ouija Board retires to stud at the end of the year with a record four Cartier awards to her credit.
