Online database of farriers launched

  • A new website has been set up to help horse owners find a farrier.

Farriers’ Pages is an online database of UK farriers, which can be searched by name, location or qualification.

It’s the brainchild of farrier’s wife Claire Brown, who also runs the Forge & Farrier website which provides information and contacts for farriers around the world.

Claire said: “In the past I have struggled to find a farrier. Many of the farriers I called were already fully committed and for others I was too far out of their area.

“It can be a really difficult choice. How do we know one farrier is better than another and what do the different qualifications mean?”

Farriers’ Pages incorporates the answers to these questions, with explanations of the different qualifications and training and an area dedicated to hoof care advice, with articles by leading industry figures.

The farriers listed on the site are all registered with the Farriers’ Registration Council and have applied to be included on the site.

The website is endorsed by the National Association of Farriers, Blacksmiths and Argicultural Engineers and the Worshipful Company of Farriers.
