A new annual tent-pegging competition will be held in the grounds of Haileybury College, near Hertford.
The Haileybury Military Tournament, sponsored by brewers McMullen & Sons, takes place on July 3, in aid of The Soldiers’ Charity, which supports soldiers wounded in current conflicts and their families.
Teams from the Household Cavalry, King’s Troop RHA, HAC Light Cavalry and the 16th Lancers Display Troop will be hoping to win the McMullen trophy — a statuette that depicts a mounted military tent pegger in action.
Commercial director of McMullen & Sons, Steven Gill, said: “McMullens are delighted to be associated with supporting The Soldiers’ Charity in this very worthwhile cause.”
In addition to tent pegging, the tournament will feature massed bands, pipes and drums, a light gun run competition by 201 Parachute Battery RA, the Princess of Wales’ Tigers free-fall parachute team, and more.
