New chief executive for British Dressage

  • British Dressage has a new chief executive after the organisation received more than 30 applications for the role.

Jason Brautigam, who has a background in racing, will replace Amanda Bond, who leaves to oversee equestrianism at the Hong Kong Jockey Club next month.

“I’m really looking forward to joining the team,” said Mr Brautigam.

“These are exciting times for the sport. There’s a great opportunity to capitalise on the recent success of British riders to promote dressage to a wider audience and attract new supporters, whether as competitors, spectators or sponsors.

Mr Brautigam takes up the role on Monday 9 June. He was previously the managing director for Totepool, and was formerly  head of sales and marketing at Ascot racecourse.

He has been running his own marketing communications consultancy business for the past two years, with clients including Goodwood and York racecourses and Arena Racing Company.

“Although most of my career has been spent in horseracing to date, I will aim to bring some of the commercial knowledge gained elsewhere in the equestrian world to help BD achieve its full potential,” he added.

BD chairman Penny Pollard said they had had a “great response” with some “strong candidates” coming forward for the position.

“The board and management team were unanimous in agreeing that Jason was the one for the role. We’re looking forward to harnessing the skills he brings to BD, particularly his strong commercial background,” she said.
