The grand opening of the new PetPlan Equine All-Weather Arena at the David Broome Event Centre (Wales and the West) will take place on Tuesday, 5 August.
Starting at 6.30pm, the opening ceremony will be performed by Princess Haya of Jordan and will feature equestrian celebrities and demonstrations of a variety of sports in the arena, including volleyball and rugby.
The project, which has received funding from the Lottery and the BSJA, is the brainchild of James Broome.
The 100x72m arena uses a state-of-the-art irrigation system which allows the consistency of the surface to be manipulated, ensuring that the going can be varied to suit a range of disciplines and non-equestrian sports.
The arena will be used for the first time at the centre’s August meeting, the programme for which includes a Horse & Hound Foxhunter second round.
“With the new arena in place, we will now be able to open the showground throughout the year and we aim to hold midweek and winter dressage and show jumping shows,” says James Broome.
