National Hunt jockey Richard Johnson rides 2,000 winners

  • Richard Johnson has become only the second National Hunt jockey to ride over 2,000 winners.

His 2,000th win came aboard Fighting Chance trained by Richard Lee on Wednesday 16 December at Newbury.

The only other National Hunt jockey to record more than 2,000 winners is 14-times champion AP McCoy, who reached the 3,000 wins mark in February 2008. Johnson has been runner up to McCoy 11 times.

Johnson’s major racing triumphs include the Cheltenham Gold Cup with Looks Like Trouble in 2000, the 2002 Champion Chase on Flagship Uberalles and the Champion Hurdle in 2003 on Rooster Booster.
