Michael Jung’s Sam to miss Burghley

  • The German eventing sensation, La Biosthetique-Sam FBW, is currently out of action with a minor leg injury.

Michael Jung’s European, World and Olympic gold medal-winning partner, who was due to make his debut at Burghley Horse Trials, was found to have a slight irregularity behind after a training session with the German squad at Warendorf a fortnight ago.

“On closer examination Sam has a slight injury in his left hind and cannot be fully trained. We don’t want to take any chances,” said Michael’s father, Joachim.

Jung, who had indicated earlier in the year that his preferred mount for the European Championships in Malmo (29 August-1 September) would be Halunke FBW, who won the Luhmuhlen CIC*** in June, will still start as one of the favourites in Sweden.

“We are confident that Michael and Halunke are also able to go all the way to the top in Malmo,” said German coach Hans Melzer.
