Rugby stars will face a new challenge next Thursday (6 August) when they take part in a Sportsman’s Equestrian Evening.
The charity fund-raiser is being held at Hartpury College, Gloucestershire, and combines rugby and equestrianism.
The idea was spawned by stallion master and bloodstock agent David Redvers and showing maestro Robert Oliver and his wife Claire.
Current and former Lions players, fresh from international competition, will be swapping scrums on the rugby pitch for races in the saddle — taking part in what David has described as “a gymkhana with a rugby-slant”.
Equestrian stars including world-class eventer Mark Todd and dressage rider Carl Hester, will be captaining the teams, as well as giving presentations and demonstrations.
The event will also feature a parade by the Ledbury Hounds.
Money raised will be donated to the local Air Ambulance, the Ledbury Hunt, and the Eloise and Kate Memorial Trust, which funds projects in aid of young cancer sufferers.
The evening will run from 7pm to 10.30pm and entry is £10.
