Showjumping fans in London will be treated to top-class sport in an exciting new location this summer — Horse Guards Parade.
Tickets are now on sale for the London Global Champions Tour (GCT), which will be held on 14-16 August. For those who can’t make it, the event will be shown live on the BBC2 on Friday and Saturday.
“London will be one of our flagship events of the season,” said organiser Jan Tops. “The sport will be of the very highest level, featuring the best riders.”
It is expected at least 2 of the British gold medallists will be in action.
Last year, nearly a million people tuned into the BBC to see Ben Maher and Cella win the grand prix after an exciting jump-off with Nick Skelton and Big Star at the GCT’s London debut, in Stratford.
But the venue received criticism from fans due to its location and for empty stands and lack of atmosphere.
Organisers told H&H that nearly half of the 12,000 tickets had been sold for this year’s show, and it is hoped the central location will attract more visitors.
Advanced ticket prices start from £21.60 and go up to £54.
