My Little Pony named most popular 80s toy

  • My Little Ponies have trampled over their rivals to be named the most popular toys of the 1980s.

The colourful plastic models galloped into the lead ahead of the Supersoaker, Glow Worms and the Cabbage Patch Kids.

The survey — which was conducted by a personalised gifting site — polled more than 3,000 British men and woman about their favourite toys from the 80s, 90s and 00s.

A whopping 67% of 80s children said they remembered My Little Ponies the most fondly.

The domination of My Little Pony looks set to grow as a new generation of fans will be the likely result of the franchise’s second big screen production, Equestria Girls – Rainbow Rocks, which premiered in Hollywood last month (27 September).

Numerous celebrities and their families — including Django Unchained star Jamie Foxx — attended the predictably pink preview.

There seems to be “neigh” stopping these soft-plastic pink toys.
