Laura Collett makes a winning comeback to eventing

  • Laura Collett made a winning return to competition at the weekend.

Laura and Noble Bestman, aka “Super Steve”, took the open intermediate at KBIS Wellington Horse Trials, in Hampshire, on Sunday (25 August).

Just under 7 weeks ago the rider was in hospital after sustaining serious lung and liver damage in a rotational fall at Tweseldown (8 July).

“It’s great to be back,” Laura told H&H. “I was so lucky to have my first ride back on Noble Bestman. He looked after me.

“I was a bit nervous going into the cross-country, but he gave me loads of confidence — I trust him 100%”.

Laura added that it was “really exciting” to return with a win.

“I wasn’t expecting it at all,” she said. ” It was really special and set me up well to get back into the swing of things.”

She also had rides at the event on Allora and Obos Cooley. “We just went steadily,” she said. “They jumped well.”

Laura said she’s now aiming on going to Boekelo with Noble Bestman in October.
