Irish showjumper Denis Lynch will not ride at Olympics

  • Irish showjumper Denis Lynch has had his Olympic appeal dismissed by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

Denis last week (27 July) made a last minute appeal to try to regain his Olympic place.

He was originally selected to jump for Ireland, but after his horse Lantinus 3 was disqualified for hypersensitivity in Aachen last month, he was dropped by Horse Sport Ireland.

    Cian O’Connor was selected instead.

An HSI spokesman said: “This decision was reached by the CAS ad hoc tribunal following a lengthy hearing (Saturday 28 July) involving all interested parties.

“Our focus remains on supporting the eight equestrian athletes who are representing us at the games.”
