A horse has been killed and a man hospitalised after a road accident that occurred in the early hours of Monday morning.
The incident happened on the A46, one mile outside Evesham, when a car hit a loose horse and spun off the carriageway into a ditch.
A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “The driver, a man believed to be in his 50s, suffered concussion and neck injuries and was transferred to hospital in Redditch.”
The horse lay blocking the A46 and was immediately struck again by the following vehicle, a lorry, subsequently dying from its injuries. The driver of the lorry, a man in his 30’s, was treated at the scene for shock.
Police were called to the scene at 05:59am and managed to capture another loose horse that had escaped from the same paddock. The owners of these two horses are currently being traced.
