If you’re at home this weekend you can catch the action from the HSBC FEI European Eventing Championships at Luhmühlen, Germany (25-28 August) on H&H online and on the BBC.
The event will be shown on the BBC on the red button from 9.25am-3pm (freeview starts at 11.05am) on Saturday (27 August).
And on Sunday (28 August) it will be on the red button from 12.40pm-2.30pm. There will be highlights on BBC2 from 3.15pm-5.30pm.
The British squad is made up of Piggy French, William Fox-Pitt, Mary King, Nicola Wilson, Polly Stockton and Laura Collett. The final team will be announced after the trot-up later today (Wednesday, 24 August).
British chef d’equipe Yogi Breisner said “everything is fine so far” and that he is pleased with the draw — 13 out of 14.
William Fox-Pitt arrived in Luhmühlen last night (Tuesday 23 August) and tweeted earlier: “Mood in Luhmühlen and Team GBR camp is good today…riders relaxed, grooms happy and horses settled!”
The Germans will benefit from home support but Team GB is likely to start favourites as we have won the past eight European Championships.
If Britain win team gold at this, the 30th European Eventing Championships, it will be our 22nd since the competition began in 1953.
Don’t miss H&H’s online coverage of the championships. H&H editor Lucy Higginson will be reporting from Luhmühlen with regular reports, blogs and cross-country course photos
Plus a full report will be in next Thursday’s (1 September) magazine.
