Feast of equestrian art goes on display


  • An exhibition of more than 200 works of equestrian goes on show at London auctioneers, Christies, next week (7 -10 August).

    The annual exhibition of the Society of Equestrian Artists, willdisplay contributions from the USA, New Zealand, France and Ireland as well as the UK.

    Prices for exhibits range from £250 to £20,000. There will also be commissioned works on show, including The Houghton Sales 2000 painted by John King and lent by Tattersalls.

    Members will be competing for prizes and awards, each aimed at a particular discipline, such as racing, eventing and polo in categories such as best sculpture, oil painting or best work by a young artist.

    Among the sponsors are Horse &Hound, the Bank of Ireland and Fenwick of Bond Street.

    The exhibition at 8, King St, London, W1, is open between 10am- 6pm.l The exhibition closes 10 August at 3pm.
