A farrier has been suspended from work for two weeks by the Farriers Registration Council (FRC) for allowing his brother, who was untrained, to shoe a horse.
Eric Nunn, of North Lizard Riding School, South Shields, was found guilty of serious misconduct by the FRC on 15 December 2011. His ban runs from 17-30 January.
The incident took place on 14 September 2010. His brother Barry Nunn was convicted of illegal farriery at Sunderland Magistrates Court on 24 February 2011.
The FRC has also taken Michael Jordan, of High Street, Seaton, to court for carrying out unlawful farriery.
Mr Jordan was neither a farrier nor an apprentice when he shod a horse in a field on 7 September 2011.
Workington Magistrates Court found him guilty of illegal farriery and fined him £240, with £490 costs, on 22 December.
