On day two of the 2012 BEF Futurity evaluations at Hartpury, two elite premiums were attained, with the highest score of the day going to eventing foal Lekanto (pictured).
Bred by Tanya Endres, Lekanto earned an impressive 9.18. Also known as Zac, Lekanto is the fourth foal from the thoroughbred broodmare, Miss Daisy. He is by the Arab stallion H Tobago and will be produced to go eventing.
“I couldn’t find a thoroughbred stallion to suit Miss Daisy so started looking at Arabs instead,” said Tanya. “They have more stamina and elegance – H Tobago’s movement and attitude really suited Miss Daisy and I’m delighted with Zac.”
The second highest score of the day went to the eventing foal, Algina Royale, owned and bred by Charlotte Gower. The filly foal by Royaldik out of Algina T by Upperten – herself an eventing mare with 147 BE points – earned an elite premium with a score of 9.
The top scoring three-year-old was Chernushka, owned and bred by Mary Stubbs. She earned her higher first premium of 8.96 in the endurance section. Registered with the Arab Horse Society, she is by Murmansk out of Warrens Hill Chanda, by Celtic Shadow.
Bellissimmo Boomerang, owned and bred by Lucy Burrows, was the top scoring showjumper, earning a higher first premium with a score of 8.85. The chestnut colt is by Lauriston, out of Coolseskin River, by Caeasar Imperator.
The top scoring dressage youngster of the day was the colt foal Waverley Federer, owned and bred by Sara Longworth from the Waverley Stud. The son of Fidertanz, out of Hotline mare Desert Song, earned a higher first premium of 8.84.
Vanilla Ice, owned and bred by Jackie Cornwell, was the top scoring two-year-old, earning a showjumping higher first of 8.19. The palomino filly is by Setters Hill out of Marstows Calamity, by First Footman.
Several sports ponies were entered; the highest scoring was Dancing Tornado, who earned a first premium of 8.37. Owned and bred by Mrs Prosser, Dancing Tornado is by Tornado Af Knabstrup by Floral Dancer, out of Litton Talisman.
