Riders will soon be able to search the FEI’s database of banned substances using an iPhone application.
Graeme Cooke, veterinary director at the governing body of horse sport, announced the concept at the Global Dressage Forum in the Netherlands (25-26 October).
By making this information more easily accessible, the FEI hopes to reduce the number of doping and medication cases.
Cooke said: “We already have a specific area on our website [www.feicleansport.org] where riders can search the database to find the classification of a substance, but when you’re on the yard and want a quick answer, this phone app should be useful.”
The free app will be available for other makes of phone in the future.
