Equine dental technician’s death blamed on sudden adult death syndrome


  • A 34-year-old equine dental technician has collapsed and died while riding from “sudden adult death syndrome”.

    Richard Morling was competing with his horse Jo at a dressage competition at Field House Equestrian Centre in Marchington, Staffs, when he collapsed on Sunday.

    He died an hour later in hospital.

    His mother Caroline told a local newspaper that a portmortem had taken place but no cause of death could be found.

    As well as his equine dentistry career, Richard was a riding instructor, evented at novice level and ran Lakeview Livery Stables in Borrowash, Derbys, with his fiancée Donna Bates.

    His funeral takes place tomorrow (30 June) at St John’s Beeston Parish Church, Notts, at 1pm.
