Driving club celebrates silver jubilee

  • The Oaks Driving Club, based in East Sussex, celebrated its first 25 years with a jubilee drive across the fields of the historic Battle of Hastings in the grounds of Battle Abbey.

More than 30 club members enjoyed the drive, led by the club president, Bill Vine, driving a pair of greys to a handsome roof seat brake.

The club chairman, Rob Simms, was at the Abbey gateway to meet councillor Graham Walker, mayor of Battle, who cut the ribbon to mark the official beginning of the drive.

“It was a successful day,” said Rob. “The abbey officials have said that they would welcome us back, so we might make this an annual event.”
