Do you own Britain’s oldest horse?

  • Following the success of the Veteran Horse Society’s ridden final at last year’s Olympia, the charity has launched a search to find Britain’s oldest horse or pony.

The society is looking for anyone with a horse or pony over the age of 30.

“We are inundated with calls from people allsaying they have an elderly horse or pony and is theirs the oldest,” explains Veteran Horse Society founder Julianne Aston.

“Horses and ponies are living longer and we think it would be great to find the oldest in the UK.”

The society’s aim is to collate as much information about Britain’s elderly equines and find the oldest living horse and pony.

The VHS is asking owners for the following information:

    • Horse or pony’s name
    • Age
    • Breed
    • Height
    • Briefhistory of the horse or pony
    • Owner or carer’s details including email, address and contact telephone number
    • Recent photograph (include SAE for return)

    Details should be sent to:
    The Veteran Horse Society
    Hendre Fawr Farm
    St. Dogmaels
    Cardigan
    North Pembrokeshire
    SA43 3LZ
