A horse has been found dead on board a cargo plane.
Staff at New York’s JFK airport found the horse aboard the Israeli El Al cargo plane on Friday (15 July).
The plane had flown eight hours from Belgium.
The horse was reportedly a one-year-old warmblood called Virteuse, worth around $140,000 (£86,700). The owner has not been named but is said to be from Illinois.
The horse is said to have been “kicking forcefully” for the first 30 minutes of the flight before going quiet.
The US Department of Agriculture is investigating.
