Christmas countdown: 14 days to go!

  • Gold for Britain’s Paralympic team

Britain’s Paralympic dressage squad scaled new heights to add the Open European Championships to its haul of international and Olympic medals.

The team – Lee Pearson (Blue Circle Boy), Anne Dunham (Hotstuff), Debbie Criddle (Figaro) and Nicola Tustain (Hotstuff), with individuals Kay Gebbie (Irving) and Wayne Lightbown (Ojay) – clocked up personal bests at the championships in Anadia, Portugal.

Lee Pearson and “Gus” (pictured) lived up to expectations, in spite of Lee becoming unseated shortly before entering the arena. The combination scored another personal best with a stunning 82.81%.

Afterwards Lee said: “I watched the video afterwards as I really didn’t want the sympathy vote for having fallen off. He [Blue Circle Boy] faltered a couple of times but the compulsory movements were all there.”
