Farewell to Chiddock Stud founder Gillie Davies

  • Chiddock stud founder Gillie Davies has died at the age of 66 after suffering from cancer for several years.

In 30 years of breeding, her show, working and show hunter ponies took every major showing title, including Royal Windsor, the Royal, Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) and Royal International.

Chiddock Spot On (pictured) and Chiddock Over The Limit were both supreme at HOYS, with the latter taking the overall title at Hickstead in the same year.

Friends said Gillie would be missed and remembered as much for her courage and legendary sense of fun as she will for her encyclopaedic knowledge of horses and ponies.

She leaves a daughter, Sammy Sykes, son Hamish Davies and two grandchildren.
